Our team manages the Natural Disaster Fund (NDF), a blended risk transfer vehicle that provides risk capacity to underwrite risks in ODA-eligible countries.

The NDF is a public-private partnership funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office; and by Germany’s development bank KfW on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Hannover Re offers matching reinsurance capacity to support NDF transactions.

The NDF also has a dedicated technical assistance facility, which provides catalytic grants aimed at incubating proof of concept projects and innovative products, for high-impact parametric risk transfer.
