Global Parametrics Appoints New Chairperson

Global Parametrics, the social enterprise seeking to catalyse the development of markets for Financial Disaster Risk Management (FDRM) solutions in developing countries, is pleased to announce the appointment of Nina Shapiro as Chairperson. Nina will succeed Stefan W. Hirche of KfW who has chaired the board since the Company's formation in July 2016.

Nina’s strong professional record in financial innovation includes her long tenure as Treasurer and Vice President of Finance of the International Financial Corporation (IFC). In these roles, Nina managed IFC’s funding, liquid asset investments, asset liability management and its initiatives in structured finance and in local currency and risk hedging instruments. She has worked with senior government and banking officials to open domestic capital markets particularly in China, Brazil, Morocco, West Africa and the UAE. Also, Nina worked extensively to develop a wide spectrum of public and private sector infrastructure projects for the World Bank Group.

Currently, Nina serves on the boards of Man Group (alternative investment management), Mountain Partners (investors and developers of early tech), Identitv (high tech security). She also serves in the Advisory Boards of New Silk Route (private equity for South Asia) and The Carbon Trust (environmental NGO).

In 2010, Nina received the Euroweek Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to the capital markets.

On appointment to Global Parametrics, Nina Shapiro will bring to bear her skills as a leader of financial innovation to support scaling up the Global Parametrics business strategy and its consolidation as an innovation platform targeting low and middle income countries in the risk transfer space.
